Knowing What’s Next

HTC cuts the Vive VR headset’s price to $599 (https://t.co/1vR38AuhPT). Theyre just the latest to slash pricing in VR gear. Can we finally declare the VR hype officially over?

Technology and market fit aside, there’s been a desperate struggle in the media to find the best big thing after the Smartphone. Bandwagons are easy to jump on, especially in Tech, but perhaps folks in the industry/media should step away from their screens and see what kinds of Technology are impacting daily life?

Examples I’m seeing include payments (especially China), smartphone cameras, on demand transportation, money/banking apps, mapping and video to name a few. In many cases, these things vary widely by region meaning you have to travel to experience it.

Knowing what’s next isn’t easy and like anything, it takes work.
